The MISSION of the New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series (NMTPAS) is to present excellent, innovative and engaging multicultural performances and events that strengthen and educate our vibrant and diverse community, cultivate collaboration, and contribute to the economic development of central New Mexico.
For 2023-2024, NMTPAS is presenting a season of shows and special events live and in-person at Macey Center. Tickets are affordable: $20/Adult; $15/Senior, 65>; $8/Youth, 17<, with a 25% discount to subscribers, payroll deduction available to NMT employees, and monthly distributions (if you wish) when you purchse a subscription through our PAS Store. In addition, we offer many free community programs, including our spectacular Presidential Chamber Music Series.
This year, we are presenting 8 Season Shows featuring music, theater, dance and family variety entertainment; 4 free Presidential Chamber Music Series concerts; several PAS Special Events--Pre-show Dinners, Canvas & Cocktails, Art Reception, and Tacos & Tequila for Cinco de Mayo. Plus, we continue with our mainstay education and community engagement programs: National Dance Institute New Mexico In-School Residencies; Youth Concerts; Community Arts Party; SocorroFest; 4th of July Celebration; and Missoula Children's Theater Summer Residency.
NMTPAS partners with the City of Socorro and Socorro, Magdalena and Alamo-Navajo Community Schools; and collaborates with a wide array of NM Tech, City and County organizations in support of quality of life on our campus and in our community. Socorro is fortunate to have a beautiful and intimate theater and conference center, Macey Center, with its elegant lobby gallery and full range of conference and special event services supported by a top-notch professional staff. Home to New Mexico Tech, a high ranking science and engineering university, with a variety of nationally recognized research entities, including EMRTC, EarthScope (merged with IRIS), the New Mexico Bureau of Geology, PRRC, Magdalena Ridge Observatory, plus a world-class Golf Course, Mineral Museum, Etscorn Observatory and an excellent Childcare Center.
Socorro County is a gem in Central New Mexico: home to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, the Bosque del Apache and Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuges, the Quebradas Back Country Byway, Water Canyon, San Miguel Church, Socorro Community Theater, our new Rodeo and Sports Arena & Convention Center; the Loma Theater; a vibrant local music scene, which holds Open Mics every Wednesday on Zoom, and every other Thursday in-person at the Capitol Bar, Sunday Sessions featuring local bands the last Sunday of every month, and more (check out socorromusic.com for a weekly schedule of music events around town); acclaimed visual artists and the Socorro County Arts Alamo Gallery; a variety of excellent restaurants for every palate; three breweries; and our Historic Plaza with its classic gazebo. Historic Magdalena is just up Highway 60, with excellent artists, galleries, events, great scenery and an Old West feel.
Socorro County has amazing annual events—4th of July Celebration, County Fair, The Great NM Chile Tasteoff, SocorroFest, NM Tech’s 49ers Celebration, Enchanted Skies Star Party, OktoberFest, Festival of the Cranes, Luminaria Arts Crawl & Christmas Electric Light Parade, NM State Science Olympiad and Science Fair, Magdalena’s Frontier Days, and much more (check out Visit Socorro for a complete listing of what's happening).
Participating in arts and events is food for the soul. We appreciate your support of the arts!
